Our American Voice® innovates civic learning and engagement for today’s world

Every year, OAV continues to develop new lessons to address current issues affecting the lives of our students. Our exceptional teachers identify contemporary topics for our civics curriculum and create lessons that engage our students to explore these important issues. These lessons spark inquiry, develop inquiry and provide an opportunity to connect and act on the issue. In 2020-21, three lessons were added to the curriculum. “I Am More Than You See”, invites students to reflect on their own self-identities and gain an understanding of fairness and justice for all people. “Music for Change” is an investigation of the power of music throughout history to bring about changes in society. In “Political Parties” and “U.S. Elections” students investigate the role political parties play in U.S. elections and the role of the Electoral College in presidential elections.
